Coronavirus

Message from the Chairman of Great Cransley Parish Council
November 2020

Dear Parishioner,

Well here we are again, on a full lockdown…….. the current rules must be adhered to if the country has any chance of being able to enjoy some sort of “normal” family Christmas.

It is of course, up to each one of us to decide how we act, but the whole point of lockdown is to try to limit, as far as possible, the terrible strain that the NHS is under and thereby enable them to deal with all the other illnesses and procedures that we need hospitals to provide, as well as for victims of the virus.

It seems to me that during the lockdown period we must stay at home as much as possible and try to restrict our journeys.

I salute the extraordinary and compassionate work of so many people of our village who have been helping their less able neighbours with their needs and a group making face masks  to help support the national effort to beat this wretched virus.

I heard this morning that the team of immunologists in Oxford think that they may have a viable vaccine which could be ready by Easter next year. This group is being led by a dedicated lady, Professor Sarah Gilbert, who was born in Kettering and is a world leading authority on virus control.

So we have to hold our nerve, keep up social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands regularly. Most importantly we must not be embarrassed by wearing masks … It does not matter what we look like ……but we owe it to each other and must do all we can to protect ourselves, our families and our neighbours.

I hope there is now some hope of deliverance from Covid 19 and I look forward to a time when we can all meet at the Village Hall for a community celebration…. that will be the time to laugh at the most outrageous protection outfit seen in Cransley!

On behalf of the Parish Council I wish you and your families all continued good health and perseverance with the restrictions.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Barnwell
